Darkness and light are themes that run heavily through Van Gogh's work. Darkness and lightweight reflected his wish create beauty, his feelings of inadequacy, and his desire to touch the souls of men. For instance, Starry Night draws the viewer to the painting of a sleeping village with its swirls of light as well as rich evening sky. There is another way of looking at it. The wisest among us would not use the word fear but would replace it with more acceptable notion and words such as ‘cautious’ and ‘wary’. Either way, fear defines most, if not everything that we do in life. Or should we say that fear starts to control us, our feelings and our thoughts?
