We often get questions about how to add a URL link to a wedding website – one that your guests can click on to take them to another webpage. Adding a link can be helpful when you are listing accommodation options, things to do in the area, information about your venue, or even links to you registries. Kate and David used a ton of links to help their guests find babysitters, taxis, and activities for their wedding.
Each text editor works a little bit differently, but the principle should be similar across them all. On our text editor, the button to add a URL link looks like a chain link. Here is a quick video tutorial that walks you through how to add an active URL link to your Glosite wedding website.
Some of you may have already noticed, but we’ve added several new email wedding invitation and wedding website templates to our design boutique in the past few months. One in particular that we wanted to highlight is the new Your Photo template. This one puts you guys front and center. You can use your favorite image – maybe from your engagement session, a recent trip you’ve taken, or a special occasion during your journey together. We know you’ll find something fun and hope you enjoy this new option!

Each week, we get a ton of questions about how to integrate a cash registry onto your Glö wedding website like Fenella and Stuart did on the Wedding Gifts page of their wedsite. Cash registries are fun because you can get as creative or simple as you’d like. Fenella and Stuart used Paypal buttons that allowed their guests to contribute cash gifts to different “funds,” such as:
Our Romance Fund: helping us keep that sparkle alive so we don’t get divorced …….and so you don’t have to come to yet another wedding….Dancing lessons, dinners out, theatre trips, first night honeymoon dinner, ‘Kiss ‘n’ Make Up’ treat after our first spat…
Our Home Fund: So when you come and stay you will have something to sleep on, something to wash with and the neighbours won’t see you naked through our curtainless windows….Bedding, towels, curtains, blinds, better cutlery (especially spoons!)…
Our Eco-Extension Fund: because we live in a cupboard, we need more space and once we build it, we’ll need to put stuff in it.…Dinning table and chairs, Sonos Sound System for online music streaming, speakers…
Create your own gift!: go on, surprise us! Describe your wishes in the comment box…
Dowlla is an economical choice because (as of March 2015) they only take $.25 on each cash gift.
Note: The main hitch for Dwolla is that your guests will need to have or create a Dwolla account and add a bank account. Most bank accounts can be connected instantly via an online banking login and password, but some require a 1-2 day verification process. If you’d like to give your guests the option to gift via credit card, you will need to use an alternate or additional service.
With Dwolla, you have the option to create three types of buttons:
“Simple Payment” – standard buttons that let your customers buy only one product or donate only one specific amount.
“Freetype Amount” – allows for a flexible amount depending on what your customer buys or what donation level the donor chooses to contribute.
“Pre-defined Amounts” – gives your customers a drop-down menu of product choices or donation options.
Create your button(s) using the Dwolla Button Generator, Dwolla has a great overview of how to create buttons in their FAQs. Or you can watch this handy video:
After creating your button, copy the embed code for the button to your clipboard
Login to your Glö account and navigate to “Manage Glösite (your website” > “Edit” for the page where you’d like the button to appear..
Log into your Glo account and go to “Manage Glösite (your website)” > “Edit” for the page where you’d like for the button to appear. You can add the button to the bottom of the page by pasting the code into the widget box:
Note: The type of script that Dwolla buttons use will not work with the HTML feature on the text editor, but you can add text in the widget box above and below the Dwolla button code if you’d like. This is how Fenella and Stuart added their Paypal buttons with text in between.
That’s it! As the gifts come into your Dwolla account, you can connect your account to your bank account and transfer them.

Today’s guest post is from another exciting wed-tech company to hit the scene. Wanderable is a honeymoon registry site that offers the added benefit of sending personalized email thank you notes straight from your phone – featuring photos taken on your trip!
So you’re getting married, but already own your dream set of pots and pans, and don’t need a lot of new stuff from a traditional wedding registry. You also have dreams of eating croissants in Paris or lounging on a hammock in Hawaii, but are worried about budgeting your trip after you big day. Enter Wanderable.com, a honeymoon registry site that makes it easy for your friends and family to give you meaningful and memorable experiences.
Setting up your honeymoon registry on Wanderable is simple. You can create a personalized design or use one of the site’s 28 themes, and the layouts are clean and well designed (think Pinterest) and ad-free. You can upload a photo of the two of you, add a personal note to your guests and include any wedding details you want to share.
Once you have your registry site setup, you can add any item or experience your heart desires: a snorkeling expedition off the coast of Bora Bora, a stay in a beach bungalow, a couples massage, or a new piece of luggage to take on your trip.
After you have added your registry items, you share your link to your wedding guests, and they give you the experiences you registered for as funds for your trip. You can receive gifts automatically into your bank account or have a check mailed to you whenever you want, and your guests can even choose to send you a handmade gift box with your gift description, or take one to the reception. Wanderable’s registries are free to create and have the lowest transaction fees in the industry.
As an added bonus, Wanderable’s iPhone app makes it easy to manage your registry on the go and a snap to send your guests personalized thank you postcards that feature your own photos uploaded straight from your phone. You can share the cards for free via Facebook or email, or have Wanderable address, stamp and mail them for you.
Best of all, you can easily embed your Wanderable registry link right into your Glo site. Get started today at wanderable.com!

As you may or may not know, iOS – the operating system that powers Apple products like iphones and ipads – does not play nicely with flash. This is the reason why you might see a website that has a beautiful photo slideshow or video on your computer browser only to find it’s bare and uninteresting on your phone or tablet.
For your own wedding website, one way to ensure that all of your guests will be able to see that awesome photo slideshow that you put together is to use a slideshow widget that runs on HTML5 technology. To date, Flickr and Picasa have been slow to jump on this bandwagon. However, we can offer one suggestion that will make the magic happen for you: SlideMyPics.
SlideMyPics is an easy to use slideshow maker that can pull in photos that you have saved on your Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, Smugmug or Photobucket accounts.
On SlideMyPics, Just choose the photo service you’d like to use and login to your account
Click on the “organize photos” tag to delete or reorganize the photos
Preview your slideshow and customize the size, template style and music
Grab the widget embed code by clicking the “copy” button
Then head on over to your Glö account, to add the slideshow to one of your website pages. Choose the page where you want to add the slideshow and either click on the HTML button in the text editor if you’d like the slideshow to be in the middle of a page with other text around it or paste the code into the widget box to have the slideshow appear at the bottom of the page
The result is a gorgeous slideshow that will run on browsers, phones and tablets for all your guests to see!
As always, each of the designs featured in our boutique come with matching paper or printable stationery options that you can order directly from these talented designers AND all proceeds for these premium designs go directly to the designers as well. This way, you can feel great about supporting independent artists and we can feel great about offering designs that you love! happiness.)
More and more of you are wanting to add some video to your wedding website. So much fun! Whether it’s a Save the Date video, a video of your engagement or a video just welcoming your guests and tell them you can wait to see them – it’s a great addition to any modern-minded wedding.
For those who aren’t as familiar with this aspect of the web, here’s a quick video on how to add video to your site using YouTube.
Before you can add your video to your Glösite, First you’ll need to upload your video file to YouTube and make sure that the video privacy settings are either turned to “Public” (meaning it will show up in internet searches) or “Unlisted” (meaning only those with the link are able to view, and the video won’t appear in web searches.) Then just follow the steps outlined below:
It’s no secret that we all get really excited when technology makes yet one more part of wedding planning easier and fun! One thing that I didn’t think about for my own wedding, until it was too late, is how to collect all of the photos that friends and family took during our 4 day event. For weeks after the wedding, I received emails with links to various photo sharing sites – some saved here, some saved there. Of course in my post-festivity state, I wasn’t organized enough to create a directory of all the links. Now, I have no idea where most of the photos are. Epic Fail on my part.
But yet again, a group of smart, young, insightful entrepreneurs have created a service that help us solve the problem even before we know it is a problem. Enter Wedding Snap – a new tech company focused on helping your guests collect photos of your celebration in one, streamlined place. Wedding Snap has just released their widget code, which makes it easy for you to incorporate their service right into your Glösite pages. Perfect for sharing all of the photos with friends after your celebration. I asked Michelle Tang from Wedding Snap if she would be willing to give you all some pointers on how to use the service with your Glösite. Here’s what she had to say:
So you’ve built your Glosite and it looks amazing. But it’s a few days after your wedding and trying to remember all of the fun moments you had. You turn to Facebook or pester a friend, but only get a glimpse of one or two pictures and you’re left there wanting to reminisce some more.
With Wedding Snap, you can gather all of your precious wedding memories in one place with ease. Wedding Snap is an online photo sharing experience that uses IPhone and Android apps to help instantly collect photos in one online album. Every photo that is taken with the app is uploaded to the live album. No waiting or begging. Your guests can watch your wedding happen in real-time, no matter where they are.
How Does it Work? Sign up, create an album code (e.g. Ashley25), and share that code among your guests through 250 personalized instruction cards that Wedding Snap sends you. Your guests will download the free Wedding Snap app to their smart phones. Every picture that your guests take through the app, a copy of it will be automatically uploaded directly to your album.
The service starts as low as $99 and the app is free. So, it doesn’t matter if you have an intimate wedding in Bora Bora with 10 close relatives and friends or if you rented out the entire hotel to fit your 500 guests, the price is the same.
But why am I sharing this with all of you Globies? With the new embedded code option, you can now have all of those Wedding Snap photos in your Glosite (I know, you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat for this)! Your friends and family can check our your Glosite to see all of the wedding photos they took in real-time. Now, you’re probably thinking, how do I get my photos in one place because I just can’t wait a moment longer!
How to Embed your Wedding Snap Album in your Glosite:
1) Log into your Wedding Snap album by typing in your album code and password:
2) Once your dashboard has loaded, click on the album you would like to embed into your Glosite:
3) From the album gallery, click on Share Album:
