I am excited to introduce you to Yenty Jap of Love Monde, who is the newest Glö partner designer! Yenty works out of Indonesia and adores her clients around the globe. I asked her to tell me a little bit about herself and her design inspiration and here’s what she had to say:
How did you get started with design?
After I graduated from high school, I got into the IT world following my friend and studied it for a year. However, I don’t like math or memorizing text books for tests, so a naive thought (no test, just create) brought me to choose design. I dropped out and took graphic design courses, I love what I do and never regret that choice.
What inspires you and your designs?
I love artists like Norman Rockwell and the creator of studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki. They catch that right feeling about human interaction and put it into their work. I wish to be like them too one day! My works are mostly from my imagination – I look a lot and read a lot. My drawing teacher used to advise me to “see a lot in your surroundings”- magazines, books, etc, anything with pictures. You don’t have to memorize it, but it will be in your head already, so when you are designing or illustrating, your brain will take all that you need out on your work.
What is a fun fact about you?
I collect things – like stamps, sand from every beach I visit (because their colors are different from another), and stones. I only eat oatmeal with honey for breakfast, love kids, love nature, wish to migrate and turn my live over.
What’s your favorite wedding celebration that you’ve attended and why did you enjoy it so much?
The latest wedding that I attended and enjoyed was my friend’s wedding. She had a small party for friends and family only, the place was cozy, bright and the celebration took place at lunch time so it was not overly decorated (and I could see everyone.) There was a small stage with band in the middle of it, they played jazz music and sang beautiful songs. Over all, I didn’t feel small attending the party and the food was great too! :)
